I understand the unique demands dancers face in training and performance. Along with virtual and in-home consults, I offer the following services for dancers, studios, and companies by request:

  • On-site and backstage physical therapy care for summer intensives and performances

  • Educational workshops (performance enhancement, injury prevention, pelvic floor health)

  • Conditioning/fitness classes and workshops

How can these services benefit you and other dancers?

  • Access to care earlier and faster can prevent small injuries from becoming bigger and more serious. This means less time lost and more time spent doing what you love.

  • Understanding your body better helps you take better care of yourself and your dancing. Period.

  • You can acquire new tools and knowledge to improve your technique, performance, power, and resiliency.

Dance for life, not just for now.

A little more about my background and work with dancers:

I have extensive experience providing physical therapy and performance enhancement care for pre-professional, professional, and university-level dancers. This includes backstage care for professional touring companies, on-site care for summer dance intensives, injury-prevention and wellness workshops for dance studios, and one-on-one treatment for dancers. I also serve as an expert for Pivot Dancer, an online platform for dancers, dance educators and parents to discover solutions for a healthy dance experience.

I regularly present workshops and educational sessions for the dance and dance medicine community. Past studio and university workshops have included topics on injury prevention, cross-training and preventative exercise, Pilates-based exercise for dancers, pelvic floor issues in dancers, and safe flexibility training in dance.

As Coordinator of the Dance Science degree at California State University, Long Beach, I remain actively involved in the dance medicine and science world and this informs me on the latest knowledge to help dancers improve their dance capacity and recovery optimally from injury. I present research locally, nationally and internationally, including for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science, Performing Arts Medicine Association, and the American Physical Therapy Association. I serve in leadership in the Performing Arts Special Interest Group of the American Physical Therapy Association and have provided educational content for the Essentials of Performing Arts Medicine Certification of the Performing Arts Medicine Association.

When working with me, dancers can trust that I truly understand their athletic, artistic, and training demands and can tailor treatment to their unique needs and goals.
